Newborn Lois Rangel’s tiny hand is held by her mother Martha Rangel during
a photo session with photographer Julie Williams in their hospital room at
the University of Utah Medical Center. This was the first moment Rangel had
to spend some time with her premature daughter that did not survive her early
birth.

This image for my carried a real human tragedy of one mother, it’s a image
that stayed with me a drew the strongest emotions from me…
