Great spot news. You can tell they are giving up on fighting this giant blaze.
Great color. There can be beauty in tragedy.

Good job. Got there early enough that there is still interaction between
the animals and the people. Good scene setter, too. Often freeway accidents
like this have be be done with a 300 from across the other side. One
advantage of working in Cedar City instead of Salt Lake City. This
photographer "brought
home the bacon," on
this shot.

This is a nice local slice from an important national story. The moodiness
of the photo works in its favor. It also seem as if this person is not
trying very hard to hide, which also speaks volumes to the story and
he is surrounded by all his stuff. Good job to not be tempted to use
too much strobe and ruin the feeling of being there.
Honorable Mention
Matthew Hatfield/Ogden Standard Examiner
Got a laugh out of this but we felt is was an "almost." This
photo might have placed in the top 3 if the pigs had not been in the
same category.
